Launching new screenings in Shirebrook and Dronfield for 2018

Matinée is delighted to announce two new dementia friendly film series for 2018, launching in Shirebrook and Dronfield. Both series will start in January 2018, and show several films throughout the year. The first three films in each series have been announced.

This means that from January 2018, Matinée will have achieved full coverage across Derbyshire with dementia friendly films series in each of the boroughs and districts within the county, and Derby City.

We’re very excited to be reaching across the county with this scheme, and look forward to welcoming you to our screenings! Please pass on the news! Thank you!

Matlock celebrates first screening

We were proud to hold our first film screening in Matlock on Friday 3rd November 2017. An audience of 21 enjoyed the company of Grace Kelly, Frank Sinatra, Bing Crosby and Louis Armstrong at the Imperial Rooms in Matlock.

We were well looked after by the Imperial Rooms staff, and assisted by our volunteers too! The next Matlock screening will be ‘American in Paris’ in February 2018. Do pass on the information to anyone living with dementia, their friends, families and carers.

Wonderful Volunteers!

Here is a photo of our trusty Alzheimer’s Society volunteers helping at the Buxton screening of ‘Carousel’ earlier this week. They are a fantastic bunch, helping us set up the venue, serve refreshments, welcoming and socialising with the audience, and getting stuck into the washing up too!

We are lucky to have a terrific volunteers across Derbyshire – but there’s always space for more – so do get in touch if you’d like to join in with Team Matinée!  Just email Frances on [email protected]
